Continuing its tradition of representing the wide diversity of Asian Pacific American
writers and artists in the country, the fifth issue of dIS*orient includes pioneers
in APA literature as well as new and emerging artists.
This issue includes works by Sesshu Foster, author of City Terrace: Field Manual
(Kaya Production, 1996); Velina Hasu Houston, a L.A. playwright who teaches at USC
and edited The Politics of Life: Four Plays by Asian American Women (Temple University
Press, 1993); Jeff Tagami, author of October Light: Poems (Kearny Street Workshop,
1987); and an interview with Foster by local poet Amy Uyematsu.
Other writers and artists featured in this issue include: Elizabeth Casuga, Kevin
