dIS*orient Journalzine Celebrates Publication of Fifth Volume dIS*orient Journalzine, an Asian Pacific American literary and visual arts journal based in Los Angeles, announces the release of its fifth issue this August. Continuing its tradition of representing the wide diversity of Asian Pacific American writers and artists in the country, the fifth issue of dIS*orient includes pioneers in APA literature as well as new and emerging artists. This issue includes works by Sesshu Foster, author of City Terrace: Field Manual (Kaya Production, 1996); Velina Hasu Houston, a L.A. playwright who teaches at USC and edited The Politics of Life: Four Plays by Asian American Women (Temple University Press, 1993); Jeff Tagami, author of October Light: Poems (Kearny Street Workshop, 1987); and an interview with Foster by local poet Amy Uyematsu. Other writers and artists featured in this issue include: Elizabeth Casuga, Kevin Chen, Aileen Cho, Bruna Darini, Allan deSouza, Wataru Ebihara, Stephen Gorme, Raymond Hahn, I.H. Kuniyuki, Brenda Kwon, Chen Lin,Jeffrey Loo, Louinn Lota, Yong Soon Min, Amy Pabalan, Jo Rankin, Anthony Robles, Zahera Saed, Ruth Sarreal, Toru Sugita, Luis Syquia, Eileen Tabios, Eng Tang, Peter Tamaribuchi, Thu-Thuy Tran, Gregory Uba, and Jennifer Yuh. |

About dIS*orient: Published by Aisarema, the journal has been serving the LA literary community for the last five years. We support local writers not only by presenting their work in the journal, but also through readings, writing workshops and collaborative ventures.
